POC diagnostics are not only intended to be used in a laboratory or clinic by a trained user, they also need to be operated by minimally trained community health workers in limited infrastructure settings. Over the next few years, we will see photos like this one because of natural disasters, and wars with refugees being relegated to camps with biological consequences. The platform we propose will have the ability to assess multiple pathogens and health conditions on-site. Namely in vitro diagnostics, and environmental testing, including Bacteria, Fungi, insect conditions, water quality, food quality, forensics, bioterrorism threats, and other biologic agent remediations. Because the X-Bar battery-powered POC system is small, has a broad test menu, is inexpensive, and permits on-the-spot testing, it will eliminate the need to send tests to the central lab which normally adds time and cost.
This is the system we propose in the field for Point-of-care, (POC) diagnostics and mobile deployment. It’s ideal for limited infrastructure settings and military operations.
This system is twice as fast as any system 5 times as large and is an excellent candidate for Covid-19 testing (RT-PCR). It would vastly improve the testing turn-around currently experienced in today’s market place.
